Bachmann Claims Obama Determined to 'Lift Up the Islamists' and Impose Sharia Law in America

She said on a radio show that Americans must study Islamist texts just as those who studied Adolf Hitler's 'Mein Kampf' in World War II.

Minnesota's Sixth District Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R), a member of the House Intelligence Committee, accused Pres. Barack Obama of trying to "lift up the Islamists," and impose Sharia, Islamic religious law.

She also criticized the president and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton by saying they are silencing any speech in opposition to Islamist movements.

Bachmann made the statements Saturday against Obama and Clinton on a conservative radio show, Jan Markell’s radio show, with radio hosts Jan Markell and Eric Barger. The full audio of the show can be found here.

Bachmann said Obama and Clinton are "taking away people's ability to be able to speak" and that "it is game over because then all of the power and authority has been given over to the Islamist."

According to Right Wing Watch, Bachmann said everyone who is not an Islamist will "lose their right of speech and expression":

Not just verbal speech, but written, a cartoon, a painting, whatever it is, if it is in any way construed as being against Islam that is where the confrontation comes from the Islamist world and they want to stop anyone in the world from saying anything negative about Islam. Which means there is only one free speech right and that would belong to the Islamists. Everyone else would lose their right of speech and expression.

The reason why this is important is because this is the whole game, it is game over if we who are in the non-Islamist world lose the right to criticize what the Islamist does, because the Islamist tries to advocate Islamic Sharia law and so anything that we would say in the future, once you criminalized anti-Islamic speech, anything that we would say that would be critical in any way of anything Islam does would be considered criminalized. That’s why I say it is game over; the Islamists will have won everything. That’s why they are willing to put ten years into achieving this objective of silencing any form of dissent to Islam.

...

Once you take away people’s ability to be able to speak, this is not a small right, this is everything, it is game over because then all of the power and authority has been given over to the Islamist. The Islamist is the only one who gets to dictate what we can say and what we can do, and what we can print and what we not print, and who can assembly and how they can assemble, because at that point Sharia Islamic law in effect becomes the law of the land because the Islamist gets to have the authority, not anyone who opposes Islam. This is a very, very important issue.

About Clinton, Bachmann said this:

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton she helped to formulate and write and pass UN Resolution 16/18, which calls for the criminalization—anti-free speech measures. This is very concerning that she went down that road. It doesn’t specifically say Islam, it talks about religious speech, but let’s face it there is only one religion that the OIC—the Organization of Islamic Cooperative — cares about and that’s Islam.

Bachmann said that Obama wants to introduce Sharia law to the U.S. and that a a letter from Muslim-American groups regarding anti-Muslim instructional material is "proof positive" of that.

She added that Americans must study Islamic movements in the same way people studied Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf during WWII.

She accused the Obama administration of supporting the Organization of the Islamic Conference's blasphemy laws.

Bachmann: That's what I spent my whole year doing was talking about this issue of what the OIC was trying to do with their ten year plan and all of these efforts in the Obama administration. The only conclusion you could make is that they are embracing the ten year plan and are supporting it and that's why this October 19 document is so important because that is proof positive that every piece that is put into place is leading to one direction, this isn't deviating it's leading to one direction, and that ultimate goal it seems to be is to allow for mandating, following, every demand of the Islamist and we know what their ultimate demand is.

Barger: Sharia law.

Bachmann: That's right. That’s why we need to know what their belief system is; we need to know what they truly believe. That's why the most important thing a person could do in WWII was to read the book that the leader of Germany wrote.

Barger: Mein Kampf.

Bachmann: Because he laid out very clearly what his intention was, he wasn't hiding it, the Islamist does the same thing. They do not hide it, they lay it out very clearly. But what we’ve never seen before is the United States aiding and abetting that goal.

At a radio show last year, Bachmann expressed concern that Sharia (Islamic religious law) is quietly infiltrating U.S. courtrooms.

Earlier this year, Bachmann stated that Keith Ellison had a history with the Muslim Brotherhood.

Sharia law was mentioned early in the election cycle when Republican candidate Lynne Torgerson said Ellison "fails to oppose banning Islamic Sharia law in the United States." and "refuses to state that the U.S. Constitution should be supreme over Sharia law." She said she believed Ellison "does eventually want to replace the U.S. Constitution with Sharia law."

Another candidate, challenging Ellison as a Democrat, called it "ludicrous" that Ellison was sworn in as the first Muslim U.S. representative on a Koran once owned by Thomas Jefferson.

Ellison answered the charges: “The Islamophobic campaign against the so-called ‘threat’ of Sharia law in America has always been a solution in search of a problem.” Ellison said in January 2012. “No court, state legislature, city council, or municipality has tried to supplant U.S. law with Sharia law. Rather, this is a campaign by a fringe group of political opportunists trying to stoke divisions and fear."

Michelle Bachmann is crazy and needs meds stat. The only people trying to impose their religious beliefs on the rest of us are conservative Christians.

Marissa, same talking point again??? Getting a litlle old hearing you repeat yourself. Interesting too, since on another Patch post you are totally in support of the 2nd Amendment as is Michele. So what are your thoughts on Micheles backing the 2nd Amendment? Does she still need meds?
I also see you're a business owner as is Michele. I'd love to see what exactly your misguided beef with her is.

I truly have no idea. I am in her district and nobody I know votes for her.
The only thing I can figure is we have many older citizens who keep buying into her craziness. They are from a time when we could trust and believe our representatives but obviously that time has long since passed.

Funny that she should encourage us to read Hitler's Mein Kampf, when she is the person raising hatred towards a certain ethnic group.

Very easy for all of you armchair quarterbacks to make calls and accusations and name call. Eveyone is 10 feet tall behind a keyboard eh?
Maybe you should look into some of the committees she's on. Do ANY of you hold the top secret clearance she does? Are any of you receiving daily briefs from the intelligence agencies? Some of the threats against this country I have heard would make you people soil yourselves. Most of you have no clue of the enemies against this country, and only God knows why most of you can't accept that fact. Is Sharia Law making inroads into this country? Yes. There have been calls from groups such as CAIR asking for a special court to hear cases involving Muslims, much like some special courts on Indian reservations.
It is simply stunning that 19 people hijack 4 aircraft, incinerate 3,000+ innocents, and United States interests around the world are under attack daily, yet I read comments above which are totally bereft of any intelligence whatsoever, just name calling. Wow. Simply stunning.
Lastly, STMAMom, I have no idea how many friends you have nor care, but it can't be many. I know a lot of folks in St. Michael, and know of very few that voted for Graves or carpetbagger Clarke previously.

Ah, so you have top secret security clearance then, eh Rick? Neat. Also, I guess that then it is a good thing that Mrs. Bachmann is here to save the day and sound the alarm.

Hmmm. So your argument is to simply trust her because she has high security clearance and gets intelligence briefs? Well, the President has higher clearance and gets more briefs. By your logic, why don't you trust him? In case you got lost, the point I am making is that committee assignments and all that only makes up a portion of one's credibility. The rest is in what you say and do. Bachmann talks a lot of crazy and therefore she has little credibility with me and many others. The proof is in the pudding and she has nuts in her's.

John, Bachmann is a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence of which it's mission "is charged with the oversight of the United States Intelligence Community, which includes the intelligence and intelligence related activities of 17 elements of the US Government, and the Military Intelligence Program." ( http://intelligence.house.gov/about/history-jurisdiction )
ALL Congressmen are given clearances to classified documents that are pertainent to the committees they sit on. They can also request classified documents from committees they do not sit on, they must prove a "need" though. This need to know actually works very well as Congressmen out of a code of ethics (yes, I know that comes across as an oxymoron) will not request something that really does not pertain to them.

This is just disturbing. How does one develop that much hatred? Are the people in her district proud of this? Is this why they elected her? How can she serve her district with so much hate in her heart? Read Hitler's Mein Kampf are you kidding me?

Once again we distract ourselves from the real problems by fixating on foreign boogeymen. BY FAR, the greatest threats to average Americans are other Americans.

These threats aren't as easy to identify as color, religion, etc., which is why simple minds tend to obsess with stereotypes and broad generalizations. Sharia law is not the problem. Stupidity is the problem.

I happened to stumble across that radio program while driving last weekend, and I am stunned by this entire article. Obviously the author Helal and the Patch have a deep desire to cut Bachmann down using whatever they find, wherever they find it. I seriously doubt if the author even heard the radio show herself. Because if she had, she would have never written this piece as it is - a hit piece on a conservative.

The radio show was about the major, potentially life-threatening changes being made to the training materials that our soldiers and intelligence personnel are receiving. Patch, I demand an apology for this article as it is so blatently politically motivated, as well as being a personal attack on an elected official who has access to classified documents we'll perhaps never see. I am especially disturbed by the way that Christians outside the liberal mold are targeted with crafty techniques which give the reader the completely wrong impression of them. This "news" article reads as a typical Huffington Post blog. If you find yourself getting upset at Bachmann and thinking that this is yet another piece of evidence that proves Bachmann's idiocy, you really should examine your sources. The Bachmann I know is highly intelligent, concerned for our nation, and aware of the threats we face. The good news is that she's willing to endure these attacks and false reporting in order to get the word out.

Is this the same Bachmann who announced that vaccines cause retardation?
No one needs to paint Bachmann out to be a loon. Her words do that just fine.

Denise, why don't you prove vaccines can't cause retardation or side effects? The history of certain vaccines in this country is not good. For anyone who wholeheartedly puts their trust and faith in an organization such as the FDA mystifies me. And in particular, the HPV vaccine that Bachmann cited has had some people suffer from nasty side effects and even death. Maybe, just maybe, instead of people getting shots to vaccinate them against sexually transmitted diseases, they practice some morality instead...

Rick,
While I'm proving that the HPV vaccine doesn't cause retardation, should I also prove that it doesn't cause meteor showers? Or squash bugs? Maybe split ends, too? (Because they're all equally ridiculous, in case you didn't pick up on that). Conspiracy theories and paranoid propaganda are why the Internet was invented, but we deserve more from our elected officials. The HPV vaccine is not deadly and only has rare side effects connected to pre-existing risk factors for blood clots (like smoking). It was reckless of Bachmann to say otherwise.

Morality is super great, indeed, but unfortunately cancer doesn't give a poo if its victims are moral, evil, somewhere in between, even reborn. Cancer is a jerk like that, as are genital warts. According to the CDC, more than half of all sexually active American males have HPV. This means that even if a woman is a virgin on her wedding night, she very well could be infected with HPV and later become one of the 12,000 women per year diagnosed with cervical cancer and one of the 4,000 American women who die of cervical cancer each year. Or she could pass along HPV to her (completely moral and innocent) children. This puts her daughters at risk for cervical cancer and, by the way, anyone in the family at this point could join the 4,200 Americans diagnosed with anal cancer (fun!) annually. There are also throat, penile, and vaginal cancers, all caused by a virus that we are blessed to have a vaccine to protect against. Thank God!

How ever she got reelected I don't know. I honestly feel that if the marriage amendment wasn't on the ballot she would have received fewer votes. I'm not saying she's a bad person but she embarrasses herself and us voters quite often. She basically spat in our faces during the Iowan caucuses, calling herself an Iowan. She certainly doesn't represent me anymore. All she is doing now to keep in the spot light is making silly accusations. Her only legitimate claim to doing any good for MN was helping to secure funding for the Stillwater bridge and I'm not sure she can even claim that given the work Klobuchar did.

You can be highly intelligent, have top security clearance and still be a racist nut that fires up suspicion in others. In fact it is often the most intelligent that have the ability to do the most harm in building hate mongering. I know that Huffington is more like a National Enquirer but there are enough other facual sources that point to Bachmann's lunacy. She is an emabarassment to Minnesota.

Ms. Helal's religious background has nothing to do with the reporting of this story. It was also run in Stillwater and Woodbury, by white Protestant men. Want to question them?
