Bachmann Predicts Romney will Select Ohio Senator as VP
When put on the spot by some St. Michael business leaders late last month, the Sixth District Congresswoman said she'd put her money on Rob Portman.

Put on the spot by her host recently at a St. Michael, MN manufacturer, Rep. Michele Bachmann didn't hesitate when she made her prediction for the person she thinks Mitt Romney will select as his running mate.
"I think it will be Sen. [Rob] Portman from Ohio," Bachmann told Marksman Metals owner Pete Scharber. "I really do. And I think it's a good choice."
Romney is expected to make his decision as soon as Monday, after the Olympics wrap in London.
Portman, a junior Senator from Ohio, is a popular selection because he could swing a state Romney, the presumptive candidate for president from the Republican Party, desperately needs.
"I think Mitt is pretty predictable," she said. "I think he's solid. He's a strong businessman. I don't think there will be any big surprises."
The last vice presidential selection made by the GOP, of course, was a huge surprise, as candidate John McCain selected Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska, a relative unknown.
Bachmann said she worked with Romney to make the repeal of "Obamacare" a priority for his campaign.
"That was my issue, and I pushed it very hard. I would not give the Romney campaign my endorsement until I know that would be part of his plan once he took office," she said.
Bachmann did not mention her Minnesota colleague and other prospective vice presidential prospect, former Gov. Tim Pawlenty.
Those two traded some barbs in their campaign for the presidency earlier this year. Pawlenty criticized Bachmann for a small list of accomplishments in Congress, while she portrayed the former governor as a moderate.
When asked who might be the darkhorse in the "veepstakes," Bachmann said Marco Rubio of Florida might get the nod.

Who the hell cares what this insane person thinks for God's sake? If Mother Teresa didn't hear from God, Michelle Bachmann didn't either -- but she thinks she did -- and therein is the casae her insanity.

I agree. Portman would be an ideal choice, perfectly complementing the fiscally-conscious Romney.
After all, Portman was in charge of the federal budget during the Bush years of non-budgeted multi-billion dollar expenditures and tax cuts that precipitated the current national debt crisis.
And Romney's current budget proposals have been criticized by nonpartisan economists as wholly untenable, fiscally unsound, debt-promoting, and heavily skewed to favor the wealthiest Americans at the expense of the 99%ers.
As i said, a match made in heaven.

What an odd article for the Patch to post on the Saturday after the VP choice has been announced! I didn't bother to read the comments the first time, since anything on Michele Bachmann has a trail of attack dogs saying vile, hate-filled things about her. (so much for tolerance!) Yawn.

Actually, it arrived in my inbox today at 1:30pm. It's electronic...no need to send old news ~ should have been edited since the news came out while it was still August 10th. I'm just surprised that the piece wasn't re-titled "Bachmann looks like a fool again as she gets it wrong on VP Choice". Her visit here is old news, too. This poke at her is the only reason I can think of to send the article out on Saturday.

whenever it was posted is not the issue--issue is that she thinks herself so knowledgeable, so accurate, up-to-date, informed, so in-the know, so authorative,
so smart, etc., and she is none of the above and she continues to prove that everytime she speaks. how embarrassing for our State and everyone in it, people just laugh at her and it is a shame we have to continue to be subject to that ridicule
