The Second Fire Up 5K is happening this Saturday morning in St. Michael. The race honors the life of Timothy Larson, a St. Michael-Albertville teacher who was killed last October. Larson was an avid runner, running 15 marathons in his lifetime.
Over 500 people have registered to date, coordinator Blair Kelley reported this week. "We're hoping with race day registration to reach 600," he added.
Race day registration begins at 8 a.m. Saturday morning and is $25. T-shirts will be available on a first come, first serve basis.
The 5K starts at 9 a.m. behind Middle School West.
Even if you aren't a runner, you are invited to come and cheer the runners on.
