Interstate 94 Project in Albertville Completed, Opens Today
The year-long 94 project has reached completion and will open to traffic today, Nov. 15.
The long anticipated addition to Interstate-94 West in Albertville will be opened to traffic today.
The Westbound Collector-Distribution Road has been in progress for the past year.
The ramp will officially open after the morning rush hour most likely around 10 a.m., Albertville City Engineer Adam Nafstad wrote in a press release to MnDOT Wednesday afternoon.
Westbound traffic destined for County Road 19 and the Albertville Premium Outlets will be able to access County Road 19 via exit 201 and westbound traffic destined for County Road 37 will access County Road 37 via exit 201.
Certain traffic control devises will temporarily remain in place to facilitate motorist acclimation to the new collector-distributor route, Nafstad reported.
Final restoration of the project will take place in spring 2013. At this time, there are no further lane closures.
The city of Albertville thanks residents for their patience and understanding during construction. "This project improves freeway access and mobility, and was necessary to preserve the functions of the freeway and local routes," Nafstad wrote.

Now let's get a new hockey rink city of Albertville.

Wrong. Lets get the eastbound on ramp to I-94 done, then Steve, break out your checkbook. You want the rink, you pay for it. Everyone should be getting their Wright County statements this week. Take a good, hard look at the soaking we got from last years school levy that was passed. I'm tapped out as are most of the people I know.

In fact, after some things were explained to them, unfortunately after that joke was passed, they all said they would not have voted for the school levy. What particularily po'ed a lot of people was this school boards acceptance of "temporary federal funding" of which ran out, then they whined they'd have to lay off teachers. That board should not have taken one red cent from the feds. This game is a disgrace and the joke is on us.

So people leaving the Mall still have to go through town? If that is the case, than I agree with Rick. We need an East bound ramp from the Mall.

Carolyn/Rick, Traffic going though town is a good thing. This helps put people infront of local business. I would be willing to bet that if you asked owners of Dons auto (BP) how much out of town businees they get, they would tell you its a big chunk of their gas business.

That would be Phase 2, and all sides involved are still looking for funding sources for that project, Carolyn and Rick

Oh and Rick guess who is paying for Phase 2. That phase will be covered mostly by the Albertville tax base. There will be very little Fed or state money available for this.

Read what Mike said Steve. Then reread what I said. I along with a load of others are tired of gvmt officials and everyone else knocking on my door with their hand out. If the hockey rink is self sufficient, fine. But it won't be, and that's the problem. We are being nickel and dime'd to death. And yes, there WILL be federal money infused, along with state. It has to do with interstate commerce, thus the feds will ante up. The feds, state and local officials sit down and hammer out the deals. Of course this costs money too, but it keeps people employed, right....
