patching...
Update: Click here to find and "like" St. Michael Patch on Facebook »
Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

It's Certainly Not Good-Bye St. Michael

Sure, I won't be the guy on the top of "The Patch" page. But, like that bad penny, I'll still turn up.

Most of you out there have heard the news: Somehow, I fleeced the powers-that-be at Patch into promoting me, making me an overlord of the northern half of the Twin Cities, ensuring Patch's doom.

Well, at least the first part is true.

I'll be handing over the reins of St. Michael Patch to Liala Helal, an experienced writer who has worked everywhere from the tropics of Florida to (most recently) International Falls.

So I leave St. Michael Patch...this little thing that we somehow created together...in pretty good hands.

But you can't get rid of me that easily.

As we were before Patch even was a dream by three guys out east, my family is entrenched here. STMA is our home.

Who knew we had so much news to share?

I've been so blessed to be a part of this, on the ground level, for the last two years. From the joys of championships and new projects to the depths of tragic deaths, it has been one amazing ride.

Now, I get to share all the things I've learned, and the many things you've taught me, with my teammates. That's something that is so exciting it's hard for me to put into words.

Patch is in my blood. And now, it's part of the fabric of this community. That makes me incredibly proud. We started this together. And now, I get to stand back and watch it continue to grow.

With your help, again, of course.

So please join me in welcoming Liala. And give yourselves a "Patch" on the back.

And, don't worry. I'll see you around.

Thank you for sharing your talent and time with all of us who enjoy keeping up to date on events close to home and heart. It isn't often you can find news written factually while still having a human side. That is a gift in journalism and one in which I am so glad you shared. Best of luck to you Mike!
