REPLAY: Rep. Michele Bachmann, Sixth District Challenger Jim Graves Debate in St. Cloud

Challenger Jim Graves and Rep. Michele Bachmann will take center stage in St. Could today, as they debate the issues in Minnesota's Sixth Congressional District.

The first of three debates is set for 12:30 p.m. today at the River's Edge Convention Center in St. Cloud. It is open to the public, but you can watch it live here on Patch if you're not ready to drive up to St. Cloud.

Two more debates are planned, all within the next couple of days.

Tthe final debate will be televised in the studios of KSTP Channel 5 television and air from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 4 during the "At Issue" program.

The schedule is an exact copy of the terms Bachmann negotiated with 2010 challenger Terryl Clark, in terms of the number of debates and the small window between those debates and the election.

"I'm really looking forward to [debating] Jim," Bachmann told St. Michael Patch earlier this year. "I think one of the most exciting parts of my run from president was the opportunity to debate more than a dozen times and talk about the issues in front of people. I felt I did really well in those debates, and I can't wait to get out in front of the people and talk about the issues again."

Graves told Patch last summer he has a lot of respect for his opponent.

"I have a tremendous amount of respect for Rep. Bachmann and what she’s done to build a network here in the Sixth District and around the country," he said. "I commend her for that. But I think our biggest success is that we can bring the truth to the table. I’ve always done that. I realize I’m the underdog. But I’m very tenacious."

Jim is about doing. Michele is about talking as a substitute for doing. She is a part of the worst obstructionist group in congressional history. That group has not proposed a single passable jobs bill in two years. Compromise is a dirty word for the obstructionist House of Representatives. Grover Norquist has tied their shoe laces together. Fantastic debate, finally some substance in contrast with Michele's rhetoric. Jim appears to be a solid businessperson ready to work. With Bachman's voting record I don't see how she can say she's worked for the 6th.

Michelle is about doing. It isn't fair minded to accuse Michelle for being obstructionist. She's about not wasting tax money, reserving our hard earned dollars that's been forcibly grabbed from our hands for the really needy, infrastructure and for saving our economy! It's high time to cut the fat!
