Sage Repeats as St. Michael-Albertville Runners Send Five to State
Though the girls' team missed a return trip, the boys' team sent two runners on to the state meet, and the girls added three more at the Section 5AA meet.
Senior Brendan Sage captured his second straight Section 5AA boys' individual title, and the St. Michael-Albertville girls qualified three runners as the Knights competed in a chilly, blustery meet at Anoka yesterday.
Sage won his two-mile race by a healthy margin, running in 15:46, a personal record.
The boys also had Chase Cayo qualify.
Maddi Sjelin, a senior, will make a return to state, as will sophomore Rachel King. Newcomer Lizzy Heil, an eighth-grader, also placed in the top five.
