Second Time's A Charm to Close its St. Michael Doors

The store would have been two years old this February, but recently made the decision to close their doors.

The little red shop on Highway 241 in St. Michael will soon be closing its doors after nearly a two-year run.

Second Time's A Charm, the St. Michael children's consignment shop, announced on their Facebook page Saturday that they would be closing by the end of the year.

While the store was covering its expenses, it was not making a profit, said owner Debra Wahl.

"I would like to thank each one of you for being a loyal customer at Second Time’s a Charm," Wahl wrote on the Facebook page. "With much thought, a final decision has been made to close the store."

The doors will close Sat. Dec. 29.

"It's been a decision that we've been talking a lot about the last few months," Wahl said in an interview Monday morning. She and her business partner, David Miller, came to the joint decision to close.

"It's bittersweet, really," she said. "I've received lots of notes from customers who are sad and really enjoyed shopping here, but it's time for what's next."

So, what's next for Wahl and her business partner?

"I recently took a part-time job and am just going to work and think about what my next venture will be," she said.

Wahl and Miller purchased the building for the store in 2011, so it will be listed on the market shortly after the new year.

Until the store closes for good Dec. 29, hours are:

Mon. - Fri. : 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Saturday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Next week the store will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Very sad to hear, knowing the city of St. Michael a bank or a gas station will go up in it's place.

Still wish we could get a nice chain restaurant somewhere. Maybe where Thrifty White was? Anyone have any updates on that location or the movie theather?

No updates on the vacant lots/buildings. The city's community development group reported at recent city council meetings that it continues talking with/looking for potential buyers.
