Friday's mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., was a parent's worst nightmare.

In the wake of a tragic, horrific and shocking school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, CT, many of us in the St. Michael and Albertville area initially had no words.

As updates on the incident that left 20 children and six adults dead are provided by our colleagues at Newtown Patch, we have many thoughts of support for the families, friends and entire community shaken by the tragedy.

Share your prayers, thoughts and any words of support in our comment stream below. Reach out and show that we are thinking of them from afar.

Newtown Patch also lets us know how you can help.

Pubhouse 19 in Albertville will collect donations tonight to help victims.

"We are going to raise money tonight for those families who have been affected by the unthinkable tragedy in CT," Pubhouse 19 posted on its Facebook page. "Cheers to our children, cheers to those who suffered yesterday, cheers to our nation's strength to endure, cheers to rallying around our CT brothers and sisters, God bless everyone and cheers to a better day."

Leave your support to those who have been affected in the comments below.

As a father of two children I can not imagine the hurt these families are going through. How my heart aches for them all and I do not even know any of them. Its tragic and to know there were heroes in the midst makes feel that we as parents need to be the heroes as well and comfort our children and let them know how much they mean to us everyday more often. My prayers go out to all the families and friends effected by this senseless act. From me and my kids, you are not alone.
