Young athletes from St. Michael-Albertville High School made an official move Wednesday morning to start the next chapter of their lives.
Eight students signed contracts to play college sports at various colleges and universities next year.
"It's exciting to see a young student athlete take the passion that they have here, and take it with them next year to a college or university," said Brian Benson, STMA High School activities director. "What I see in our student athletes is amazing commitment — they're very persistent, and they've worked hard."
Students who signed for wrestling were Mitchell Eull, Minot State University; Ricky Briggs, Upper Iowa University; Cole Sladek, North Dakota State University; and Lincoln Mallinger, West Point United States Military Academy.
"It was exciting and relieving," Briggs said of making his final decision to sign with the school of his choice.
Candice Yager signed for volleyball with University of North Dakota.
"It's a big step moving foward to the next level," said Sladek. "I'm excited to wrestle next year."
