St. Michael Church, Scouts Team up With Local Grocery Stores for Weekend Drive

A food and clothing drive operated by Alleluia! Lutheran Church moves into the community's two supermarkets Saturday for a huge food and clothing drive.

The fourth annual Food and Winter Clothing Drive, operated by St. Michael-Albertville's Alleluia! Lutheran Church and assisted by the St. Michael-Albertville Boy and Girl Scout troops, will be held this Saturday.

Crews will be collecting everything from canned goods to coats for the Hanover Food Shelf at both Coborns in Albertville and Marketplace in St. Michael. The tables will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at each supermarket.

Donors can also drop off food or clothing at the Alleluia "Trick or Trunk" event, which will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. in the St. Michael Elementary School parking lot. Kids can grab candy and prizes from the trunks (or hatchbacks) of cars in a simple "trick or trunk" procession.

Items needed, specifically, are new or "gently used" winter clothes, including boots and outerwear, for area adults and youth who cannot afford their own. All non-perishable food items will be accepted.
