St. Michael City Council to Meet Tuesday Night
The St. Michael City Council meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesday nights each month.

The St. Michael City Council meets Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at St. Michael City Hall. The St. Michael council had unanimously agreed and accepted a 2.99 percent levy at the August 28 meeting. City Administrator Steve Bot told the council that reasons for the levy increase were due to equipment needs and an increased bond payment due to lack of development in recent years.
The levy amount can decrease but can not increase.
Included on Tuesday night's agenda are several community development items including the possibility of solar energy powered city buildings and a joint agreement between St. Michael and Albertville to share St. Michael's building inspector.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m, is open to the public and has an open forum at the beginning.

In one sentence the article says "reasons for the levy increase", but another sentence says "The levy amount can decrease but can not increase." What does this mean?
Was the council forced to do this because of this past foolish decision to meddle in the housing market by paying for infrastructure that would normally be the responsibility of the developer, or hasn't this cost hit the books yet? http://stmichael.patch.com/articles/st-michael-council-split-on-proposed-town-center-development

Solar powered city buildings? At a time when money is tight, the city is considering wasting money on solar power. Those projects never pay for themselves. The cost of the equipment far outweighs the savings. No thanks.

The Solar Powered Buildings? It is a a Company that is proposing to install them at NO COST or OBLIGATION to the city after 3 years. The first 3 years the city would buy power from the said company at a rate of 80% of the current rate... a 20% savings, with an option to buy the system after the contract is up. Eric, did you get the copy of the City Council Packet? Check it out at the Library or Senior Center.
