Bachmann Watches Romney Debate with Wright County Republicans
The Sixth Congressional District Republican joined members of her party and volunteers as they hosted a debate viewing party Wednesday night in nearby Otsego.
Rep. Michele Bachmann had the front row seat and let her thoughts be heard with loud applause throughout Mitt Romney's performance as the former Massachusetts governor took on President Barack Obama.
"He's doing great," she said.
Bachmann also had many comments about President Barack Obama's rhetoric during Obama's turn, hitting on her belief the president's policies will raise taxes on middle class families, especially in Minnesota.
After, she met with local media, saying the Republican candidate "won" the first debate.
Marion O'Neill, a candidate seeking her first election to state office, liked what she was seeing.
"Romney is making great points and using very specific facts. I expected him to do well and am happy to hear facts from him and mostly rhetoric from Obama," she said.
O'Neill is the GOP-endorse candidate for House District 30A, which includes the Monticello area.
Former Secretary of State and current Minnesota Senate District 30 candidate Mary Kiffmeyer agreed.
When asked what she thought about naysayers saying Romney wasn't expected to do well she said, "the proof is that Romney is doing it right now. He's going a great job."
In straw polls, both O'Neill and Kiffmeyer are holding leads in their respective races. Wright County is a stronghold for Minnesota conservatives.
In her race, Bachmann continues to hold a lead over challenger Jim Graves with five weeks unti the election.

I did not like the moderator and hope they have a different one next time that will keep both candidates on task. Both candidates kept repeating themselves rather than answer the question, almost gave up watching 40 minutes into it, but glad I stayed tuned. What a process we have here in the USA! Would be interested to hear what our foreign neighbors had to say about this first debate.

I think foreign neighbors would think that the US Press prefers a horse race to truth. Mr Romney lied nearly a dozen times in 40 minutes. A disgrace

Well, for one, Mr. Romney said that his health care plan would cover pre-existing conditions. His campaign came out moments after the debate to say that this was not true - his plan would only cover conditions that are already covered.

Susan, this is doublespeak. His plan would cover pre-existing conditions then you say it would cover conditions already covered. That's the same thing.
And this healthcare bill is attrocious to begin with. The medical device tax in this bill, which was voted "aye" by both Senators Klobuchar and Franken, is destroying jobs in this state. Look to Medtronic, Boston Scientific and many small startups in this state which are being hammered by this thing. Klobuchar needs to be fired for this vote plain and simple. And these nonsensical ads she has running about saving dealerships? Big whoop. The need is still there. All of those employees would easily get jobs at other dealerships as those dealerships would expand to meet the need that was lost by some of those dealerships closing. But the medical device manufacturers? Those jobs are history, gone. Moved OVERSEAS. Thanks alot Al and Amy. Great job. This is what liberalism is doing to our country.
