Thousands Temporarily Left Without Power In, Around Maple Grove

Portions of Maple Grove, Dayton, Osseo, Hamel, Rogers and Corcoran were impacted by the power outage early Tuesday afternoon.

 

A power outage left over 5,100 Xcel Energy customers without power Tuesday afternoon.

The outage started about 12:15 p.m. and was restored about 1:32 p.m. Tuesday, according to Xcel Energy media representative Tom Hoen. The Xcel Energy outage map indicated restoration was “in progress” as of 2:10 p.m.

The outage was due to a cable failure, Hoen said.

Customers in the northwest corner of Maple Grove as well as the portions of the surrounding communities of Dayton, Osseo, Hamel, Rogers and Corcoran were impacted.

UPDATE 4:25 P.M.

According to the Xcel Energy outage map, the larger outage of more than 5,000 customers is no longer in effect. However, outages were now shown for a total of 1,883 customers in Maple Grove and Osseo which began at around 2:15 p.m. with expected restoration by 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Xcel Energy could not confirm whether the additional outages were to the larger
outage occurring shortly after noon.
