Update on Saturday's Attempted Abduction in Albertville
Eric Kunkel from Wright County Sheriff's Office was at Monday night's Albertville council meeting to give a brief update on Saturday's incident.
Eric Kunkel from Wright County Sheriff's Office was on hand at Tuesday night's Albertville council meeting to give members and participants a brief update on Saturday's attempted abduction in the community.
"The incident has been assigned to the criminal investigation department, and anyone who sees anything suspicious is encouraged to call," Kunkel said.
Over the weekend, Wright County Sheriff's Office confirmed that an attempted abduction took place in Albertville Saturday night. A 15-year-old girl reported that two men asked her to get into their van.
The van was described as an off-white or greyish colored, older conversion van with a sliding side door and dark colored windows. The driver was reported to be an older, heavy set, bald white male wearing a black sweatshirt. The passenger was believed to be a skinny, tall white male possibly in his 20's wearing a grey sweatshirt and blue jeans.
Kunkel added Monday night that the driver is said to also described as having red eyebrows, and the van had a spare tire on the back, withall four road tires sticking out past the wheel well.
"The suspect descriptions do not match the St. Michael incident reported in late July," Kunkel said, putting rumors that the two were connected to rest.
Kunkel said he will keep the city informed of any updates that come up.
In the meantime, council member Jillian Hendrickson noted that she has noticed extra patrols in Albertville.

Great description of the van and the individuals, especially detailed items about he spare tire in the back and wheels sticking out the side...just too bad its 5 days after the fact. I'm sure these waste of human life are long gone, probably now a threat somewhere else, which is too bad. I'm really scratching my head why this wasn't on the news Saturday night or more was made to get these descriptions out to the public as Wright Co. was on scene around 8 pm. Potentially or luckily someone could of reported the were abouts of these individuals and put the smack down. I'm done beating this up as I'm so disappointed with Wright Co. Just reinforces that we (citizens) need to continue to be vigilent, if not more in the future. Again, great job to the residents (neighbors) whom helped this girl get away and the awareness of this girl to get out of dodge when the idiots showed up. Five minutes with these guys, that is all I ask at this point.

Even more frustrating that a girl was chased twice just a couple weeks before in Albertville by a tall skinny white guy, the second time she hit a tree with her bike and got a concussion, waking up to him taking her shirt off!!! This happened right in my neighborhood and no one is WARNING PEOPLE!!!! It's making me crazy, I understand that this kind of stuff could happen anywhere and we all need to be careful, but that is 3 incidents within a couple of months and in the same areas. The attempted abduction only happened 2 BLOCKS from where the other girl was chased!!! People in this neighborhood need to be extra careful right now and most of them probably don't even know! It makes me want to scream!

Lisa I called Wright Co. on this and there was no confirmation of this incident. Which IS why it wasn't reported in the first place.

Does anyone else see the connection between these type of incidents and some of scumbags drawn to the Outlet mall...Albertville was a different town before - and the local businesses- ( other then gas stations -the ones that don't get held up) are they that much more prosperous?

No confirmation? We had multiple cops out here trying to chase the guy down on both nights and the girl was hauled off in an ambulance I watched it myself. Something is not right there.

What neighborhood? I also live in Albertiville, in between the old and new highschool. I live in a neighborhood with lots of children and we are a very close neighborhood that needs to be aware of these wacko's....

I live in the neighborhood where this took place during Labor Day weekend. last Saturday on the 15th, police were watching my neighborhood, we ask them what they were doing, and they said a large bald white man chase a little girl down on her bike. I haven't seen any reports online yet about this, but this was the second attempt in the same neighborhood. by the description it was the same man as last time. if he is hunting in the same area it seems possible that he lives here. me and my family don't feel safe and I hope they are educating children at school how stay out of harm.

Thats great. Yeah, the Patch just came out with this article...I can't bash the Patch as so far this is the only way to hear about this crap...granted a couple days later again. Frustrating. Again, until we get town cops or a stronger police presence, we as residences need to be more vigilant. We are so close to 94 and these wackos seem to be figuring our neighorhood(s) out. A person wonders how many of our neighbors or residents of Albertville/St. Michael know of the recent events. I feel sorry for the next wack job trying to sell me something or is seen on our neighborhoods street. And this is in no way meant to deter or threaten kids (high school programs/etc.)/or legit people coming to my front door.
