Westbound I-94 Reduced to One Lane in Albertville Until 3 p.m.

The closure will continue each day through Thursday.

Drivers on election day can expect delays on a stretch of Interstate 94 westbound in Albertville.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced this morning that those travelling between Highway 241 and Wright County Road 19 may encounter delays.

The lane closure with take effect through 3 p.m. today, and Wednesday and Thursday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

"The closures are needed as crews construct a collector-distributor road from westbound I-94 to Wright County Road 19," stated a MnDOT information release. "The road is part of a larger project led by the city of Albertville."

MnDOT advises drivers to slow down, be prepared to stop and watch for workers and equipment through the work zone.

Any indication on why they do this during daytime hours, rather than overnight? The backups always extend well beyond 3:00 and it has a huge impact on commuters.
