Would it have killed ya to use the proper name for this day? We don't celebrate December 25th...we celebrate Christmas, and it's Christmas Day. Please be respectful toward this major holiday.

This has nothing to do with respect of the day. We simply used the calendar date, as did other Patch sites. People know that Dec. 25 is Christmas. http://maplegrove.patch.com/articles/what-s-open-closed-dec-24-dec-25-in-maple-grove

Really Liala? A search review of "What's Open" features by the Patch has shown that the Patch consistently declares the holiday name in the headline and not the date (Valentines day, Veterans Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, etc etc etc). That you would use that lame logic as the pretense for using "Dec 25th" instead of the "C' word says much about the Patch and its' editorial nonsense.

Though the error wasn't egregious in nature, I'll agree the 25th should be referred to as Christmas Day. There is no other holiday within the array of holidays celebrated in December that falls on that day. We regret the error.

Mike -- that the exclusion of calling a nationally recognized what it really is -- and that headline logic applied across many versions of the Patch is egegious because you and I both know that it was planned that way by the Patch. Shameful

I'd like to see my post reinstated here...I appreciate Mike Schoemer's note but people deserve to see the whole story since I did not swear and did not break any of the rules. If I see an apology from Liala, I'll take it down or at least post a shorter version myself.
It's very concerning to know that these threads can be manipulated by the editors.

By the way, yes I did save it. I copy and save every post due to the concern of over-reactions as I just experienced. Not only was my post taken down that questioned the honesty of the explanation above (I began with "oh puh-leeeeze") but my account was immediately suspended. It was as though I had committed a capital offense. Aren't we supposed to be able to argue with the editors? Surely editors are supposed to have thick skin.
