Big Lake Couple Brings Pro Clips Salon to St. Michael

Big Lake-based Pro Clips opened its St. Michael location last November. So far, business is sweeping up.

Pro Clips owners Brenda and Wayne Breum opened a salon in the Big Lake area back in March 2011, with sights set on serving the northwest suburbs. With a salon that prides itself on being different and using quality hair color products, it was only a matter of time before the pair decided to expand to St. Michael. That happened in just over eight months, as the newest Pro Clips salon opened in November, located next to $5 Pizza and Verizon Wireless.  "They [the Breums] felt St. Michael was the next logical place," manager Robin Bollingmo said last week. After a Month on the Sidelines, Nike Re-opens at Albertville Premium Outlets

One of the mall's anchors re-opened after shutting down for a remodeling project last weekend. Fans were greeted with new decor, and a shot at $500.

One of the more recognizable signs as you enter Albertville and are greeted by the Albertville Premium Outlets is the famous Nike "Swoosh" symbol. For more than four weeks, the Nike Factory Store, which opened Friday morning to the pubic, had been shuttered to the thousands of patrons who hop in the car and visit the Albertville Premium Outlets each week. According to Mary, a store employee who did not give her last name, the Nike store crew spent hours fitting the spot with new fixtures, wall decor (including paint, posters and more) and updating the store's inventory. Friday, guests got a free water bottle and the first 200 earned a $10 gift card just for walking in the door. Sunday (Mother's Day) two lucky customers were drawn for a $…

I'm wondering if we need to rethink our belief that the Minnesota Constitution really is harder to change than state laws. We're seeing constitutional amendments precisely because the proposals couldn't make it through the law-making process. In other words, amendment supporters see it as an easier process than one that forces them to go through the governor. So I think it's more accurate to say …   more ›
