After announcing an upcoming closure earlier in 2013, Sassy Seconds and More closed its doors in Albertville April 29. Citing family reasons, owner Lisa Gray decided to close the new and gently used consignment store that had been open in the La Centre Avenue mall in Albertville since 2009. Gray shared a parting word to customers April 30 on the Sassy Seconds Facebook page writing, “Thank you all for an awesome time! We enjoyed our time with all of you! Farewell and best wishes to all.” Customers responded: In addition to a consignment store, Gray and Sassy Seconds and More was known for giving back to the community, such as donating gift certificates to private fundraising events. Maple Grove Hospital will be hosting a Birthday Open House Saturday, May 11 to honor the 10,000 babies delivered at the hospital.
It's official. 10,000 babies have been born at the Maple Grove Hospital. The 10,000th baby, Landon Robert Wold of Monticello, was born to Jessica and Nate Wold at 6:59 p.m. on May 7, 2013. Weighing 6 pounds 15 ounces, Landon was delivered by Dr. Lisa Shakerin of Oakdale OB/GYN and nurse Anita, according to Maple Grove Hospital. The hospital, which opened about three years ago, had not been projecting to see delivery volumes exceeding 10,000 until early 2017. “The attraction to Maple Grove Hospital has been overwhelmingly positive. We have more than 50 OB/GYN providers delivering babies, and parents choosing to come to Maple Grove Hospital from as far as Brainerd, Willmar and cities in Wisconsin”, stated Linda Engdahl, Director of Family …
A bill to let states impose sales tax on big online retailers passed the U.S. Senate Monday. Minnesota Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken voted for the Marketplace Fairness Act, as did many Republicans.

The Marketplace Fairness Act would allow states to collect sales tax from retailers with more than $1 million in annual gross sales to out-of-state customers. Sens.
