Albertville Offers Tree Pickup, St. Michael Residents Use Compost

As quickly as it came and went, residents should know Christmas trees can now be placed curbside in Albertville, or composted in St. Michael.

Albertville families who used the New Year holiday to take time to send Christmas packing by taking down the tree and boxing up the decorations should know that they can place their pine on the curb next week.

Albertville offers annual "tree pickup," offered by the city's public works department. Just have the tree (no decorations or wreaths, please) out by the curb by the morning of Monday, Jan. 6. Crews should have it picked up by mid-January, at the latest.

In St. Michael, the city opens its compost facility at Lower Rec Park to all residents who want to get rid of their natural tree. The facility is open from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. during the winter, and trees are accepted throughout the month of January.
