Crow River Senior Center Gets New Director

Vonnie Waters of Hanover has been named as the successor to Joyce Flury, current director. Flury is retiring in December.

Senior Community Services has named Vonnie Waters as its new Crow River Senior Center Director, replacing director Joyce Flury, who is retiring at the end of the year. 

Waters brings a desire to work with the senior community helping to enrich the experience and grace of aging in the community where she lives.  Waters will begin her tenure on Monday, Nov. 25.

“Vonnie Waters has a strong commitment to our local communities as demonstrated by her volunteer involvement with the Hanover Historical Society, Hanover Harvest Festival, and Hanover/Buffalo Schools.  She is highly regarded for her collaborative approach to leadership, and is known for having a track record of getting things done,” said Deb Taylor, CEO of Senior Community Services. “We look forward to Vonnie’s contributions to support our mission and vision, and we thank Joyce Flury for her passion and dedication to the Crow River Senior Center and Senior Community Services!”

Flury announced that she will be retiring at the end of this year from her position of Crow River Senior Center Director.  

“I have loved this job and the wonderful people I have had the opportunity to work with at the Centers and Senior Community Services for the past 22 years," Flury said. "here is also much to celebrate as I look back on all the great things that have happened at the Crow River Center. We have a beautiful new space, great community support from St. Michael, Hanover and Albertville, wonderful volunteers and many exciting programs."

Since 1950, Senior Community Services has been making a measurable difference in the quality of life for seniors and those who care for them.  Since that time, the organization has grown to help meet needs throughout the Twin Cities and across Minnesota.
