Spooky Story Time and Halloween Stories: Family-Friendly October Activities

Find out about some of the events happening at libraries around the community in October.

Here are a few events happening throughout the Great River Regional Library system throughout October. Click on the library location for registration details.

Pumpkins, Spooky, Halloween 

Toddler Story Time

Big Lake Library  

10:30 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. Oct. 18

Interactive program with a Halloween theme for young children ages 18 months to three-years-old. Space limited, registration required.

Teen Sci-Fi Book Club Week

St. Michael Library

Find out what's happening in St. Michaelwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

The first teen book club starts Oct. 21 Pick up your copy of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy at the St. Michael desk and begin reading. Finish your book by Dec. 4 and attend a discussion and movie screening.

Preschool Story Time – Weather

St. Michael Library

11 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. Oct. 21

Storytime includes stories, fingerplays, songs and crafts. A small snack is also provided. For children ages 3-6. Registration is required.

Trick of Treat Story Time

Annandale Library

10-11 a.m. Oct. 22

Visit the library for spooky stories, songs and a Halloween treat. Limit 24. Preregistration required. For ages 3-7.

Spooky Story Time

St. Michael Library

6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 24

Spooky stories around the campfire. Registration is required.

Stuffed Animal Sleepover at the Library

Monticello Library

6-7 p.m. Oct. 24

For ages 3-7. Children can bring their favorite stuffed animal for storytime and leave it overnight. Registration required. Space limited.

Read to a Dog

Rockford Library

9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.  Oct. 26

School-aged children can story by to read to Kirk, a five-year-old Collie. Bring your favorite book or pick one out at the library. No registration required.

Preschool Story Time– Halloween Pirates

St. Michael Library

11-11:45 a.m. Oct. 28

Stories, songs, crafts, fingerplays and a small snack for ages 3-6. Registration required.

Halloween Story Time

Buffalo Library

6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Oct. 28

Preschooler and toddlers can attend for stories, activities and craft to celebrate Halloween. Costumes welcome.

Rogers Library

Wednesdays, Sept. 18–Oct. 23, 10:30 a.m.

For children age 2 and up. Share books, stories, rhymes, music, and movement with your children.

Jeepers Creepers: It's Halloween Stories

Roger Library

Wednesday, Oct. 30, 10:30–11:15 a.m.

For families. Enjoy fun Halloween stories, poems and songs. Come dressed in your Halloween costume to add to the fun.
