Winter Storm Warning Remains for Wright County

Wright County and the Twin Cities are included in the Winter Storm Warning.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning for Wright County and much of the Twin Cities. The warning will remain in effect through 6 a.m. Thursday.

According to the NWS: 

A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST THURSDAY.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: 6 TO 10 INCHES... WITH THE HEAVIEST AMOUNTS ACROSS THE WEST AND NORTH SIDES OF THE TWIN CITIES ON NORTHWARD THROUGH CENTRAL MINNESOTA. ISOLATED HIGHER AMOUNTS APPROACHING ONE FOOT NEAR LAKE MILLE LACS AND MORA.

* TIMING: PERIODS OF HEAVY SNOW TODAY... TAPERING OFF THIS EVENING. NORTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE AND BECOME GUSTY TONIGHT. THE GUSTY WINDS WILL PRODUCE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW AND NEAR BLIZZARD CONDITIONS ACROSS WESTERN MINNESOTA AND ALONG THE MINNESOTA RIVER VALLEY.

* IMPACTS: TRAVEL WILL BE DANGEROUS TODAY... WITH COMMUTE TIMES GREATLY IMPACTED.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW ARE FORECAST THAT WILL MAKE TRAVEL DANGEROUS. ONLY TRAVEL IN AN EMERGENCY. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL... KEEP AN EXTRA FLASHLIGHT... FOOD... AND WATER IN YOUR VEHICLE IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY.
