Albertville Man Needs Votes for Shot at Red Bull Crashed Ice Event

Chris Barta, a Rogers native, is aiming for his third crack at the amazing track.

Albertville's Chris Barta is taking another shot at the Red Bull Crashed Ice Championships, but he needs a little bit of help.

Barta, 30, has submitted an online profile to get into the tournament as a "Wild Card." He's still set to go through the qualifying at the Xcel Energy Center, but the wild card competition assures him of a spot if he should, for some reason, stumble at the "X."

"I'm 30 now so I'm about five to eight years older than the average guy doing the Crashed Ice series," Barta said. "I need any edge I can get."

You can vote for Barta here, via his Create. It entry. He's quite a few votes behind, so he's asking for the SMTA community's help.

"I grew up in Rogers and live here in Albertville now with my family, so I'm a hometown guy," he said.

What is Crashed Ice? Making its third visit to St. Paul, the track-style skating challenge is shooting a hockey player down an iced roller coaster, complete with jumps, turns and drops. Then, after qualifying, throw a group of them down in a race.

Barta's video can be seen in this story. If you're viewing from a mobile device, it's also here on his entry.
