Albertville Royalty: Candidates Reward New Miss Congeniality

The big awards will come Sunday, but one prestigious title was handed out (amid a bit of chaos) Tuesday night.

The Albertville Royalty style show still went on as issues with both the lighting and air conditioning at the high school kept the audience warm and in the dark. “We couldn’t have expected the night to go on without a few bumps,” Royalty committee member Kelly Myers said.

Several local visiting royalties paid their final respects to the 2010-2011 Albertville royalty, who will be turning over their crowns on Sunday afternoon at the coronation.

The Junior candidates showed off summer fashions from OshKosh and each had a chance to answer a question from the fishbowl. Candidate Rachel Andrews touched a special spot with the audience when she answered that her favorite person is her mom because “she’s a great mom.”

Miss Albertville and the princesses from 2010-2011 were able to share a few words about their experience as royalty and a farewell. “This entire experience was such a blessing for all of us,” Princess Rachel Potter shared. “I hope to continue to give back even when I’m not a member of royalty.”

The Miss Albertville candidates continued the style show by modeling business wear from Maurices and also have the chance to answer questions from the fish bowl.

Some of the questions were silly, yet others were deeper with more inspiring answers.

Danielle Renstrom was asked about one person she’d love to meet and answered without hesitation, “Joe Mauer. I’ve had a crush on him since the seventh grade.”

Jessica Wojcik had a more serious question asking if she could go back to ninth grade and tell herself anything. “Stop worrying about what others think. They don’t determine who you are.”

The 2011 Miss Congeniality title, voted on by the candidates themselves, went to Brittney Heinen.  She received a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a gift card to Maurice’s.  Jessica Wojcik received a giftcard as well, for collecting the most donations for Rock-a-Thon this year.

The style show wrapped up with a video of the 2010-2011 royalty year and experiences.
