Another Winter Advisory for Wright County as Winds Kick Up Thursday

Rough travel is expected Thursday as winds kick up in the western and central parts of the state.

Wednesday afternoon's little squall won't hold a candle to what we might see tomorrow, according to the National Weather Service.

To Wright County's west, a Blizzard Warning is in effect, as wind gusts as high as 50 mph are expected in Stearns County (St. Cloud) and sustained winds of more than 30 mph are expected everywhere, making travel extremely difficult on two-lane roads.

The wind will cause drifting on roadways all over the western part of the state, and even in the St. Michael-Albertville area.

Here's the complete advisory:

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM THURSDAY TO 6 AM CST FRIDAY.

* TIMING: CONDITIONS WILL DETERIORATE THURSDAY MORNING AND LAST THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING.

* MAIN IMPACT: BLOWING SNOW WITH REDUCED VISIBILITIES MAY MAKE TRAVEL DIFFICULT.

* OTHER IMPACTS: WIND CHILL VALUES NEAR 25 BELOW ZERO ARE EXPECTED THURSDAY NIGHT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR BLOWING SNOW MEANS THAT VISIBILITIES WILL BE LIMITED DUE TO STRONG WINDS BLOWING SNOW AROUND. USE CAUTION WHEN TRAVELING... ESPECIALLY IN OPEN AREAS.
