BREAKING: St. Michael Daze and Knights to Remain an August Event

After "blowing" away the crowds with a new, inflatable midway this year, the events committee has reconsidered moving the festivities to the Fourth of July weekend.

Fresh off a succesful three-day run, complete with a "pumped up" new, inflatable midway and carnival, the St. Michael Daze and Knights organizing committee has reconsidered its earlier decision to move the festival from the second weekend in August to the weekend closest to the Fourth of July.

"With the popularity of the inflatables, and the unpopularity of moving to the Fourth, our chair proposed to keep the dates the same," said Marissa Partridge, a committee member at St. Michael Patch blogger.

The committee held a wrap-up meeting last night.

Crowds were impressed with the super-sized inflatables this year. Plus, the tents were packed each day with other attractions like evening concerts (including hometown heroes Section 30), a business expo and arts and crafts. The parade had more than 85 entries and was well-attended Saturday, as well.

A traveling circus also welcomed crowds for four shows, and also had a petting zoo and pony rides.

Look for the bulk of the events to settle around the Aug. 10 to 12 weekend in 2012.
