Civil War Weekend

Saturday, May 4, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at The Landing, Shakopee. Spend a weekend in the American Civil War. Visit the encampments, see how Minnesota soldiers lived, and hear the roar of musketry. Receive a special visit from President Abraham Lincoln on Saturday. Ride a trolley pulled by Percheron horses. Gift shop open and food will be available for purchase. Last entry one hour before close. $5, ages 18-64; $3, ages 2-17; children under 2 free.

Free Family Fun Day: Wetland Animals: Whose Clues?

Sunday, May 5, from 1-3 p.m., at Kroening Interpretive Center, in North Mississippi Regional Park, Minneapolis. All kinds of animals use wetlands … how can you decipher clues to tell which ones have crossed your path? This program is indoors.  Drop in anytime. This program is free and open to all ages.

Saturday Mornings on the Farm

Saturday, May 11, from 9:30 a.m.-noon, at Gale Woods Farm, Minnetrista. Explore the Gale Woods Farm barn, where you can meet animals, assist a Gale Woods farmer with chores, and participate in other seasonal farm activities. Cost is $5 and this program is open to all ages.

Family Disc Golf

Saturday, May 11, from noon-2 p.m., at Bryant Lake Regional Park, Eden Prairie. Disc golf is for everyone. You do not need to know how to throw a Frisbee to join us for this lesson. Learn the history of Frisbees and disc golf, practice throwing, play disc games, learn the rules of the game, and play a round on our customized course. After the lesson you may want to try the spectacular Bryant Lake Disc Golf Course with its many vistas and groomed holes overlooking Bryant Lake. A day pass is included with the lesson fee. Discs are provided for lesson only. Disc rental is available for $2 per hour. Cost is $7 and reservations are required. Balloon Animals of the Fur Trade Era

Saturday, May 11, from 1-2 p.m., at Elm Creek Park Reserve, Maple Grove. Meet a historic voyageur at the Pierre Bottineau House. Join him as he tells stories about his life as a voyageur and the animals at Elm Creek Park Preserve that helped him and his fellow voyageurs to survive. Balloon animals, songs, and fun await for kids, families, and adults. Cost is $5 and reservations are required. Call 763-559-6700 to make a reservation and reference activity number #213202-01.
