Host Families Needed in St. Michael-Albertville

Nacel Open Door is looking for 3 host families in the St. Michael-Albertville School District.

The Nacel Open Door program is still looking for 81 host families within the Twin Cities, three of those families needed can be in the St. Michael-Albertville school district.

"Anyone can host, the students can share a room with another child of the same gender as long as they have their own bed," coordinator Kimberly Morvig said.

All of the adults in the home must have a criminal background check and must not have a criminal background.

There are many different options for hosting. Welcome families host the initial 4-6 weeks the student is in the country until they are placed with a long term family, still others are willing and able to host for three to 10 months.

Students do bring their own spending money and are expected to pay their own way at events and excursions they may go on, families do receive a $50 write off for each month they host.

"It is a great opportunity to learn about different cultures and to also help a kids dream come true of coming to America and spending a year improving their English, learning about the American culture and how different so many people here are and living like an American teenager," Morvig said.
