According to an update on Twitter by Wright Hennepin, power was restored to the impacted customers about 11:03 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9.

As of 12:15 p.m., Wright-Hennepin spokesperson told Patch in an email that the outage was caused when the "substation transformer’s protective relay was inadvertently tripped, which caused the outage."

A protective relay is designed to shut down the substation if something isn’t working properly for safety reasons, according to the spokesperson. When it was tripped, it shut down the substation.
