May Flowers, Civil War: Upcoming Programs at St. Michael Public Library

There are several programs scheduled for May 15-18, 2013.

The St. Michael Public Library is offering the following programs.

Dr. Hand and the Civil War: May 15
Adults, teens and school age children are invited to a presentation titled “Dr. Hand and the Civil War” at the St. Michael Public Library on Wednesday, May 15, 6-7 p.m. Dr. Hand is a member of the Fort Snelling History Players. He will appear in character and in costume as a doctor and Civil War veteran. He will describe his experiences caring for sick and wounded soldiers throughout the war and surviving a Confederate prison camp. He’ll also describe how Civil War experience changed the way medicine was practiced. This program is funded in part with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Third Thursday May Flowers: May 16
Children ages 4 and up are invited to an event called Third Thursday April Showers Bring May Flowers at the St. Michael Public Library on Thursday, May 16, 6-7 p.m. Visit the library on the third Thursday in May to plant spring flowers. 

Fancy Nancy Tea Party: May 18
Fancy girls ages 5 to 10, together with their mom, grandma, or other special lady in their life, are invited to a Fancy Nancy Tea Party at the St. Michael Public Library on Saturday, May 18, 10:30 a.m. to noon. Nancy is a character in a popular book series by Jane O’Connor. This event is in honor of Mother’s Day, and will include a special craft, tea, and storytime. The attendance limit is 10 and preregistration is required.
