Reports Received of Food Laced With Glass at Three Rivers Dog Park in Hanover
Three Rivers Park District Representative: "It is important to note that we have been unable to confirm those reports" referring to recent reports from nearby Crow Hassan Off-Leash Dog Park.
Three Rivers Park District recently received four reports of food or candy items laced with glass at the Crow Hassan Off-Leash Dog Park in nearby Hanover.
“It is important to note that we have been unable to confirm those reports,” Three Rivers Park District Media Relations Specialist Tom Knisely wrote in an email to Patch. “However, we are taking the matter seriously and our public safety officers and park maintenance staff are keeping a watchful eye on the dog off leash area at Crow Hassan. “
There have been no reports of such incidents at other Three Rivers off-leash dog parks, including those at Fish Lake and Elm Creek Regional Parks in Maple Grove.

Three Rivers Park District first received a report in September 2012. Park police investigated, but the item had been cleaned up and police were unable to confirm report, according to Knisely. Officer L.T. Cross with the Three Rivers Park Police said police “were told about meat and dog food mixed with broken glass” according to a KSTP report.
Jeff Donwen of St. Michael told KSTP that he's a frequent visitor to the off-leash park and that, "It's made for dogs, if you don't like dogs, don't come."

A second report came in October with a community member that had “heard” about incidents happening, according to Knisely.
More recently, the Three Rivers Park District received two calls Monday, Dec. 17. One report of candy/treats mixed with glass. Upon responding, police could not locate the item to confirm and investigate, according to Knisely.
“If a park guest comes across such items they should call 911 and, if it is safe, wait for officers to arrive so that they can show the suspicious food items to the responding officer,” Knisely told Patch.
The Three Rivers Park District has eight off-leash dog parks: Crow-Hassan Park Reserve in Hanover, Bryant Lake Regional Park in Eden Prairie, Lake Rebecca Park Reserve in Rockford, Fish Lake Regional Park and Elm Creek Park Reserve in Maple Grove, Carver Park Reserve in Victoria, Spring Lake Regional Park and Cleary Lake Regional Park in Prior Lake.
