Second Annual Community UKnighted Picnic A Success

The second annual Community UKnighted picnic was a success with over 50 attendees.

The St. Michael Albertville Community UKnighted group hosted their second annual picnic on Sept. 22. The event catered by Broaster Catering was organized by Wright County Sheriff Joe Hagerty.

"The purpose, for me at least, is trying to get immigrants to trust law enforcement," Hagerty said this week. "So many immigrants have come from places where there is such corruption that there is a perceived corruption."

Nearly fifty community members attended the picnic where both Albertville and St. Michael Fire Departments were on hand with trucks, Allina ambulance and EMT's and also Wright County officers.

"We just hope that by meeting immigrants and making them more comfortable they will be more willing to trust us and call us when they see something," Hagerty said.

"It was a great event and the group is doing a great job at improving race relationships in the county," St. Michael City Council member Chris Schumm said last week.
