Spring Arrives With Class at St. Michael's Crow River Senior Center

April brings about more opportunity for interaction at the new Crow River Senior Center in St. Michael.

A class on Origami, the art of paper folding, will continue to meet on Wednesday mornings at10 a.m.. There is no cost for the class, but please call to let us know if you plan to attend. New participants are welcomed.

The Center will be offering AARP Tax Aide appointments for seniors and low-income individuals on Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9 a.m. to Noon. Appointments are available through Friday, April 15. Appointments are needed and can be made by calling the Center at 497-8900. There is no charge, but donations to the Center are appreciated.

The Joy Knit and Needlecraft group meets each Monday at 9 a.m. Bring a project you are working on. There is no cost.

A class in Yoga – Working Out the Kinks will meet weekly on Fridays. This is a new class held at the Center. The instructor is Shannon Simon. The class will meet from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The cost is $22.50 for five sessions.

 The Minnesota Highway Safety Center in St. Cloud will offer a fur-hour 55+ driving class on Monday, March 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The class will be offered at the Sr. Center in St. Michael. To register for the class, call 1-888-234-1294.

Breakfast bingo at Culver’s in Albertville will be offered on Monday, April 4 at 9 a.m. Call the Center to let us know if you plan to attend as space is limited. There is no cost.

The Busy Hands Craft Group has rescheduled the class on making a Tutu Skirt – a perfect gift for a little girl as an Easter or birthday gift.  The class was canceled due to the snowstorm on March 23.  The class will meet at 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 8 and the cost is $5. Sign up for the class by Wednesday, April 6[CRSC1] .

 Several day trips are being offered through the Center. These trips will include pick up at the Center building. Day trips in the spring will be to Park Square Theatre to see ‘To Kill a Mockingbird,” and also a trip to Gertens Greenhouse and IKEA. There are also extended day trips offered. Brochures for those trips are available at the Center. Some of those trips offered this winter include: Alpine Splendor, Black Hills, Yellowstone/Tetons and Toronto and Niagara Falls. A trip to Pella, Iowa for the tulip festival in May is also on the schedule. Brochures are available for a variety of trips offered through summer at the Center.

The Senior Center newsletter lists a full schedule of events and trips and the monthly menu. A copy can be picked up at the Center or to have your name added to the mail or e-mail list call the Center with your name and address or e-mail address. There is no charge for the newsletter.

Noon meals are offered at the Center on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  The cost is $3.50 for the meal.  Reservations will be needed one day ahead.   Call the Center for more information and the menu for the day. The Center is also the source for Meals on Wheels in the Albertville, Hanover and St. Michael area.
