St. Michael-Albertville Girl Scouts Hoping to Add to Ranks

Like the boys last week, the area Girl Scouts will be hosting an open house tonight at Albertville City Hall.

Girls throughout the Twin Cities metro area, southern Minnesota, and western Wisconsin discover new talents, connect with others, and take action to make their communities better through Girl Scouts.

All families are welcome to come learn more at the Girl Scout new member event set for 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 27 at Albertville City Hall.

Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys gives girls in grades K–12 access to hundreds of fun and challenging council-sponsored program events, day camps, resident camps, trips, and community service projects. Girls experience a variety of activities in areas including career exploration, STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), financial literacy, outdoor skills, and healthy living.

Girl Scout membership is $12 per year. The club offer "Grants for Girls" to cover all or part of membership fees. No girl is turned away for inability to pay.

March 2012 marks the 100th Anniversary of Girls Scouts and River Valleys has a lot of fun planned for the program year—including the Great Girl Gathering @ MOA, where Girl Scouts will take over the Mall of America for a weekend-long event celebrating the past, present, and future of Girl Scouting.

St. Michael-Albertville girls in scouts are part of Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys, a gropu that helps nearly 45,000 girls each year—in all or portions of 49 counties in southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin—to discover new abilities, connect with new friends, and take action to improve their communities.
