St. Michael Couple, Now Split, Takes Troubles to 'Judge Judy'

The episode aired Tuesday, and the judge's no-nonsense attitude brought laughter from the audience members seated in the courtroom.

The slogan for the television court show, "Judge Judy,"–Real cases, real people, Judge Judy–hit home on Tuesday.

An episode aired Tuesday featuring a St. Michael ex-couple appearing before Judge Judy Sheindlin—Adam Mandel, formerly of St. Michael and now of Big Lake, who was suing his ex-girlfriend Elizabeth Fure of St. Michael for a $2,000 loan he gave her to pay delinquient Homeowner's Association dues.

Sheindlin started the proceedings with her usual no-nonsense attitude when asking how the couple met.

"I said she was employed by a family business? The answer is either 'yes' or 'no,'" Sheindlin said to Mandel in the first few seconds of proceedings.

The couple met at Mandel's family's bar, where Fure was a bartender. The episode does not indicate whether that business is in St. Michael.

Sheindlin made outspoken comments such as "I don't care,"  and "Talk to me." Her gestures brought laughter throughout the courtroom from the show's live audience.

Mandel states in the comments after the ruling that being on the show was an enjoyable experience.

"I liked it," he said, "(Judge Judy) is a great person."

The usual gossip about the ex seen in many Judge Judy episodes also took place after the ruling.

"He once told me he has cancer, and let me believe it for like five hours before he told me that he was joking," Fure said. "He thought it would be funny. It wasn't funny."
