Local Dayton Man Showcases His Artwork At Word Of Peace

Artist, James Quentin Young, of Dayton is a nationally exhibited artist whose newest exhibit, “The Journey of the Cross,” is exhibited at Word of Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers. The exhibit opened September 9 and runs until October 12. The exhibit is free and open to the public. 

Young finds inspiration in these lowly scraps and has insight to ombine
and modify the varied parts into beautiful pieces of art. He describes this as similar to the salvation offered to us through Christ; the broken bits are
reclaimed, redeemed, and restored to new life, just as believers’ souls are
restored from the wounded whole. His work has been collected nationally and represented in private collections and galleries worldwide.

Young was born in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1936. He graduated from Humboldt High School and received his BS from Macalester College. He continued his education with an MFA in Painting from the University of the Americas in Mexico City-Mexico. He taught in the public schools for 32 years. He and his wife travel nationally and internationally teaching and exhibiting his artwork.
