Thanksgiving Weight Loss Tip

Hello Friends! We are almost half way through our InFIT Weight Loss Challenge! 

I hope you are looking forward to spending time with friends and family during this time of Thanks and Giving. Perhaps you already have started celebrating!

Let's review our first 2 tips
and then discover my 3rd weight loss tip (an appropriate topic during the holidays). 

Weight Loss Tip #1 is to Believe in Yourself

Regardless of where you are in your journey thus far, keep believing in yourself (or perhaps begin for the first time). Belief is a powerful motivator. If you did not receive this email, let me know and I will email it to you. You can also find all my tips right here on the Patch!

Weight Loss Tip #2 Count Your Produce

Count your servings of produce every day for two weeks. 

If you are not consuming AT LEAST 5-7 servings per day total, start increasing your servings RIGHT NOW. Consume at least one fruit and/or vegetable at every meal and snack. If you are consuming 5-7 servings of produce per day, see if you can add one more serving per day. 

Weight Loss Tip #3 Eat Foods you Love!

I cannot take credit for this tip. There was a discussion in the Anytime Fitness office this morning about Thanksgiving meals and clients concerned about what they can and cannot eat. One of my very experienced personal trainers (thank you Nick) commented "EAT WHAT YOU LOVE... and then make sure you get to the gym and work hard!" What a great piece of advice. This advice, however, does come with the reminder of moderation: I will not take second helpings of food this weekend. I will let my host know ahead of time that I respect my body with appropriate portion sizes and I will make my decisions accordingly. If you feel a mindful approach to eating would help you (and your waistline), please do the same!

In addition to eating the foods you love in moderation is to workout a little extra on the days you will be celebrating (Thursday-Saturday for me! Yikes!) Guess when I will be working out? If you guessed Thursday-Saturday, you are correct. 

Let me be clear about my intentions of working out: I'm not working out to punish myself for eating bad foods or because I am a crazy calorie counter. I'm going to workout a little extra these next three days because I love myself, I respect my body, I want to honor my body, honor God with my choices, and I want to feel good about eating what I love. Make sure you examine your motivations before you make your workout plan because if your motivations are not right, it's going to be really easy to talk yourself out of working out or being intentional with your portion sizes. 

Above all else, be thankful for your food, your family, and your friends. I am certainly thankful for each one of you. I pray that you will experience satisfaction in God (and food) this season!
