A Complete Guide to St. Michael Daze and Knights

Check out the full slate of this weekend's city celebration, including new features and old favorites.

The fifth year for St. Michael Daze and Knights Festival is looking to be packed with activities and events for residents of all ages to enjoy from Wednesday-Sunday, August 10-14.

The event kicks off on Wednesday with the start of St. Michael’s city-wide garage sales. Things really kick into gear on Friday, when the midway rolls into town, the inflatables pop up and the music starts. All activities will take place across the street from the St. Michael City Center, on Towncentre Drive between Edgewood Drive and Landmark Drive.

A new feature this year will include "Sidewalk Chalk Art." The Daze and Knights Committee is proud to offer this new "art project" for St. Michael Daze participants.

Kids will get in on the "chalk" act Saturday morning, as from 9:30 to 10:30 there will be an art project in front of the library. Friends of the Library will help organize the community creation, which will be themed "Summer in My Town."

Friday night also features “Ride the Bull with Renegade,” a mechanical bull riding competition with contests and prizes for all ages.

Bands will be performing throughout the main three days of the event, Aug. 12-14, with Tim Sigler taking the stage from 8-midnight Friday evening and Section 30 Saturday evening in the same main time slot. Also performing is the Alleluia Garage Band from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday and the Roadkill Band from 3-6 p.m. Sunday. All music will be featured at the Veoila tent.

The Daze and Knights festival will also have a philanthropic event with its hog roast from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14. Hog roast organizers, Dehmer’s Meats, are asking for donations for the Hanover Food Shelf during the event. The cost for this event is $8 for adults, $5 for ages 2-10 and free for ages 2 and under. All proceeds will also go to the food shelf.

And don't forget the - happening all week long. Or, until somebody finds it!

This year marks the end of end of the festival’s August run. Due to difficulties scheduling a carnival for that weekend as well as not having bands to march in the parade, since marching season largely ends in July, the event next year will be held July 6-8 and will be the weekend after the Fourth of July from there on out. For now, Daze and Knights’ August celebration is shaping up to be an event with something for everyone.
