Owners: "To all of our extended family: Who believes in miracles? We're starting to."

Updated 9 a.m. June 3, 2013

After closing their doors in the community, D’s Family Pizza in Albertville announced on their Facebook page June 2 they will be reopening with the following message:

To all of our extended family: Who believes in miracles? We're starting to. The response to the announcement that we were closing left us, well, overwhelmed. Laughter and tears both came in those last few days, with well wishes that were sincere. Sometimes we never realize the impact we have on people's lives in the day to day of going about what we do. You all showed us that we have truly become a part of what was, a little over two years ago, the community that we chose to call our new home. We feel very blessed that you decided to take a chance on a strange restaurant, and we were able to make you feel like you were among family when you came to see us, especially all the kids who have grown to feel like part of the family. Family is what we've always been about.

Now, to my point about miracles: Since we closed on Wed, we've asked you to keep an eye on our page in case something changed. It has

It is with a full heart that we tell you we will be RE-OPENING on Wed June 5th. Chris' birthday. Coincidence?

We have been in discussions with our landlord since our closing and he has agreed to work with us on issues regarding our space. He has agreed to let us have more room, which you all know we desperately need. With more room, we will be bringing back our buffet, expanded, more than likely for lunch and dinner. We're going to need all your continued support to make this work so we become the fixture in the community that we originally set out to be, so we can start giving back.

Now to the business end of our announcement: We are going to need people who can do carpentry and electrical who are willing to help us with the expansion. Not a whole lot of work. Send us a message to our inbox if you're able to help, we will be forever grateful.

It's really hard not to share good news, which we hope this reaches you as. We are grateful and very humbled by the support you have all shown us. We hope we can be around long enough that your kids will be working with us someday. And that is from the heart. 4pm Wed is the restart, hope we see you all soon!

A family-owned business in the Albertville community for two years, D’s Family Pizza recently announced their closing to customers on their Facebook page, writing (in part) on May 24:

It is with a heavy heart that we post today...Due to extreme financial burdens, we will be closing our business on Wednesday, June 29th. [later updated to state May 29]

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the many wonderful customers, friends and families who have supported us over the last two years. It has been a joy getting to know you all, your kids and your families-we will miss you all more than you will ever know. Lastly, we need to thank our wonderfully supportive and loving families-without whom we wouldn't have survived as long as we did-Cindi, Sam, Bill, Stephen, Kelsey, Kaitlyn, Emily, Michael, Chris, Deondre, Nick and Brandon (of course, you're family!) We love you all.

Please continue to support the small, independent, local businesses wherever you are-they are the ones who will truly appreciate your business and need you to survive.

Thanks again for the memories-Happy Trails!! Kathy Chris Scott
Patrons flooded D’s Family Pizza Facebook page with comments, sharing dozens of comments.

"We’re very sad to hear the news! As small business owners, we understand!! We hope and pray to see D’s pizza pop up again!! Love to you all,” Susie Reichow wrote.

“Ugh, totally heartbroken” Monica Winn Farrand wrote. “You’ll have our support wherever you are!”

The business was no stranger to the northwest metro area. Before opening in Albertville, the owners operated a restaurant in Brooklyn Park for 25 years. The owners declined to comment about the May 29 closure, providing only a statement thanking the “great customers” and “hoping we are not saying thank you for the last time.”
