Heidi's Closes Doors In Albertville

After operating several months with just its liquor retail business, Heidi's has closed completely.

The owners decided last winter to shut down the gas/convenience store, but continued to operate Heidi's Liquors out of the complex on the northwest corner of County Road 37 and Interstate 94 for much if the first half of the 2013.

Previous owner Rob Nelson cited the the year of construction on Interstate 94 as one of the contributing factors when Heidi's Market closed its convenience store, deli and gas station. The traffic changes and reroutes significantly hurt business over the summer, said owner said in January 2013.

"We struggled all summer and weren't able to recover from that," he said earlier when the convenience store, deli and gas station closed. "We didn't quite make it through the construction. We just lost the traffic and didn't have the volume of sales we had in the past."

Construction Changes
The I-94 construction project, called the I-94 Westbound Collector-Distributor Road Project, was completed in November, and created an exit ramp for travelers destined for County Road 19, in addition to County Road 37.
