HOM Furniture Taking on former Lowe's Site in Rogers

The furniture store, which includes Seasonal Concepts and World Market, will be hosting a job fair for the new location in February.

It looks like Rogers will be welcoming a new HOM to the neighborhood.

HOM (home) Furniture has announced plans to take over the former Lowe's Home Improvement location in the northern part of the community. That store closed in October 2011.

The new facility was presented to the Rogers City Council late last year, and was given full approval. It plans to utilize much of the exisiting Lowe's structure, expanding to the outdoor lumberyard area as well.

A job fair for the new location will be held Thursday, Feb. 7 at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Rogers, which is located south and east of the facility, on Diamond Lake Road.

The job fair will run from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Those interested in a job but cannot attend the job fair can call HOM's Career Line at 1-866-528-3448 for additional information on employment.

According to the company's website, HOM Furniture was founded in 1973 as a small import business. In 1979, The Waterbed Room was born, and soon became the largest retailer of waterbeds in the upper Midwest. By 1994, The Waterbed Room had evolved into two separate specialty stores–HOM Oak & Leather and Total Bedroom.

In 1997, HOM Furniture Inc. combined the two formats into a chain of full-line furniture stores which is now HOM Furniture. HOM has been rated one of the top 50 largest furniture retailers in the U.S. since 2001. Currently, there are six Twin Cities showrooms: Bloomington, Coon Rapids, Lakeville, Plymouth, Roseville and Woodbury.

A Coon Rapids facility contains a showroom, corporate offices and a main distribution center under one roof.

HOM's family also stretches to seven out-state locations including; Hermantown, St Cloud, and Rochester, MN; Sioux City, IA; Fargo, ND; Sioux Falls, SD; and Eau Claire, WI.
