President's Day in St. Michael: What's open, what's closed

St. Michael Patch has surveyed several establishments in and around the community to find out what's open and what's closed on the annual holiday.

Here's a quick rundown of what is open, operational and closed for President's Day holiday in St. Michael and Albertville today.

This information is unrelated to any weather-related cancellations or closings, which will be covered as the day progresses.

  • Schools. If they have not already done so, students of School District 885 as well as the St. Michael Catholic School will happily explain that their schools are closed for the day. To find most of them, check out the myriad sledding hills and ice fishing spots around town.
  • Post offices. Are closed.
  • Grocery stores. Are open for regular business, weather permitting.
  • Library. Even those bookworms looking to catch up on a little studying will be frustrated to find out that the St. Michael Public Library will also be closed for President's Day.
  • Shopping. Yes, the annual President's Day Sale at Albertville Outlet Mall is going on as planned. Running through Monday, Feb. 21, the President's Day Sale is a four-day shopping frenzy that offers significant savings at many of the mall's 100 retail outlets. Albertville Mall officials encourage potential visitors to follow the Premium Outlets Twitter page for up-to-the-minute changes and extended sale hours.
  • Bowling. School's out and the snow has stranded families indoors. But if you're looking for a bit of lighthearted relief from this year's latest snowstorm, check out St. Michael's River Lanes & Lounge, which will be open from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Normal Monday leagues will be running as per normal starting at 6 p.m.
  • Fitness. Albertville's Anytime Fitness and Snap Fitness will remain open as per usual but as always will not be staffed 24/7.  For women, Curves (located in the Colonial Mall) will be open from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to call for a list of available classes.
  • Restaurants. Those looking to drive away the winter blues at their local watering hole will be happy to know that Albertville's D Michael B's Resort Bar & Grill and the 152 Club will be open from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m. If St. Michael is your chosen stomping grounds, Millside Tavern is closed as per its usual Monday schedule but Ditto's Bar is open from 10 a.m.-2 a.m.
