Sadie's Coffee Begins Effort to Bring Exposure to Small Businesses in St. Michael

The coffee shop holds a business boutique every second Saturday of the month.

The idea of Small Business Saturday is staying alive in St. Michael as Sadie's Coffee hosts a community boutique for local businesses.

"We are about helping the community and the small businesses here," said Kim Walden, store manager for Sadie's Coffee and director of operations for Midwest Rubs.

The boutique features local businesses set up at Colonial Mall every second Saturday of the month. The event began in November, the month of the nationwide Small Business Saturday, and organizers decided to keep it going.

"We wanted to get some local small business owners some extra exposure and help other local business and hoping to get some community service folks involved as well," Walden said. "We would like this to grow that we expand completely throughout the Colonial Mall and bring some more retail options to St. Michael."

The next boutique is Jan. 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A flyer about the event is attached to this article.

Participating businesses along with Sadie's Coffee include Midwest Rubs, Thirty-One, Beauti Control, Rum River Creations, Body by Vi, Subway, Pizza Hut, and Sweater Mittens & Canvas Bags by Ellen.

Walden welcomes any local businesses interested in participating to contact her at 763-497-1766 or at kwalden@midwestrubs.com.

She hopes to expand the event to local non-profit and community organizations such as Family Youth Community Connections, St. Michael-Albertville Rotary Club and the St. Michael Lions Club.
