For CHD Awareness Week, Distractions Food & Drink in St. Michael is hosting an event and fund raiser during which "North Dakota Bob" will be waxed. The event begins at 7:30 p.m. The more donations come in, the more wax strips will be used. Each $25 donation buys yet another wax strip for Bob.

All proceeds will be donated to Lasting Imprint, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting children and families with CHD by offering education, outreach, fundraising and research to prevent and treat the disease.

The event will also include door prizes and gift cards. The waxing will take place outdoors.

CHD is the No. 1 birth defect, taking more lives of youngsters every year than all childhood cancers combined. A third of all babies go home undiagnosed. Organizations are seeking funding to implement a newborn screening in Minnesota to reduce the mortality rate.
