Thrifty White: The End of an Era

As the lettering was removed from the Cornerstone Development's anchor, an era of service came to a close.

A worker of LeRoy Signs in Albertville removed the lettering from the Thrifty White Drug Store on Main Street in St. Michael, less than two weeks after the store closed for good.

As dozens of cars cruised down Wright County 19, hardly anyone noticed.

But the sign removal was the final step in the end of a relationship tha spanned three decades. Thrifty White's agreement to a signature store in the Cornerstone area solidified St. Michael's venture to revitalize its downtown. The city completely leveled the southwest corner of the city's busiest corner.
