VIDEO: Dahlheimer Farm Burn

The St. Michael, Albertville and Monticello fire departments conducted firefighter training at their planned burn of the house on the Dahlheimer Farm.

Local fire departments took advantage of a rare opportunity to conduct firefighter training at a burn of a house Saturday on the Dahlheimer Farm, located between Albertville and Monticello.

Owners of the farm, Merle and Laverne Dahlheimer of Monticello, asked the fire departments to burn the house, barn and sheds on the property — they haven't been used for years.

The St. Michael, Albertville, and Monticello Fire Departments participated in the training, lighting some rooms on fire and putting them out. After the practice, they let the house burn to the ground.

The house was used as a starter home for several of the Dahlheimers throughout the years, but the family decided it was time to clean up the now-abandoned buildings.

Check back for photos and a story about the burn.
