Winter's Roaring Return to St. Michael-Albertville Expected Sunday

The National Weather Service in Chanhassen has issued a winter storm warning for much of Minnesota, including the St. Michael-Albertville area.

For further proof Mother Nature has a sense of humor, look out your window tomorrow afternoon. 

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for all of central and south central Minnesota and west central Wisconsin from late tonight through Sunday night. The warning will go into effect late tonight for areas southwest of a line from Granite Falls to Le Sueur, south to Owatonna. The rest of Central Minnesota and western Wisconsin will be under the warning beginning Sunday morning. 

According to the National Weather Service offices in Chanhassen:

Heavy snow now appears likely in a wide band from areas south of a line from Morris to St. cloud, heading east to Cambridge, will see snowfall totals greater than 10 inches. Areas including Mankato, Shakopee and the southern Metro area could pick up near a foot of snow. Lesser amounts of snow in the 5 to 8 inch range can be expected to the north, and freezing rain is possible in southern Minnesota along the Interstate 90 corridor.

East to northeast winds of 15 to 30mph will also cause areas of blowing and drifting snow. Expect the winds to increase Sunday afternoon and continue Sunday night.
