German Fest

Get your lederhosen out of storage; “German Fest” is on tap for 5-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 at St. Michael City Center, 11800 Town Center Drive NE, St. Michael.  Hosted by St. Michael-Albertville Rotary Club, this festive evening includes a German buffet dinner, live “oompah” music by the “Mellow Knights,” polka dancing, cold beer, prize drawings and much more.

The event will open with a social hour from 5-6 p.m.  The Mellow Knights performance, sponsored by Jet Edge, Inc., is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. The German buffet dinner, catered by Dehmer’s, will be served beginning at 6 p.m.  The dinner includes roast pork, bierstube sausages, sauerkraut, German potato salad, rolls, German chocolate cake, apple pie and coffee.  A cash bar will be open from 5-9 p.m.  Other activities include a bonfire, games, and German-themed prize drawings.  One lucky attendee will go home with a $100 Dehmer’s gift card door prize.

Advance tickets are $20 for adults and $15 ages 12 and under if purchased by Oct. 5. Tickets are on sale now at Coborn’s Albertville, St. Michael FYCC, Crow River Senior Center and Verizon Wireless in St. Michael.  Limited tickets will be available at the door for $30/adults; $15/ages 12 and younger; advanced ticket purchase is encouraged.  Admission includes dinner and music.  Beer and prize tickets will be sold separately. All proceeds will benefit the St. Michael-Albertville Rotary Club and other community programs.

During German Fest, attendees will have the opportunity to nominate this year’s Holiday Cheermeister.  The Cheermeister will have the privilege of lighting St. Michael’s Holiday Tree.  The Rotary Club also will be taking orders for poinsettias that can be picked up at the Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration, 6-8 p.m., Dec. 3 at St. Michael City Center.  Poinsettia proceeds will benefit STMA Rotary and other community programs.
