MONTICELLO BOYSCOUTS AND LOCAL ROCK BAND TO HOST “ROCKIN’ WITH THE SCOUTS” CONCERT

Monticello, MN, August 2012 - Cub Scout Pack 272 of Monticello and Minneapolis rock band Under None invite the public to attend a first-annual concert event for families in the community who wish to learn more about the scouting organization while enjoying a live music experience close to home. “For many kids, this will be the first introduction to a live rock concert with stage lights, electric guitar solos and loud drums. We’re excited to be the one to introduce those kids to this genre of music,” says Andy Duszynski, Assistant Cub Master and lead vocalist and guitarist of the band, Under None. Andy labels their music “grunge, 90s-style rock like you hear on Minneapolis’s 93X or St. Cloud’s Rockin’ 101.” During intermission, children will be invited to make their own homemade instruments using common household items and join the band in a group song; members will also talk to kids about the music business and discuss how they got their start playing instruments;
Cub Scouts attending the event will have the opportunity to earn their music belt loops and music pins, signifying their in-depth learning of the topic. Monticello residents not already involved in scouting can learn more about the program and sample some of the activities boys enjoy with the Cub Scouts. Sign-up sheets will be available for those who wish to join.
Admission is free but a suggested donation of a canned or non-perishable food item for the Monticello Food Shelf is appreciated and will help the boys earn their community service projects. Concessions will be available, including Boy Scouts of America popcorn, ice cream provided by Monticello’s local Culver’s restaurant, hot dogs and soda. A silent auction for many items donated by local businesses will be held, including an electric guitar presented by Guitar Center.
This BSA-approved event is possible thanks to generous sponsorship and donations from the following businesses: Guitar Center (Roseville), Target (Monticello), Mueller Family Theaters (Monticello), Cub Foods (Monticello), Cargill (Monticello), Monticello Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning, Flash Portraits (Maple Grove), Culver’s (Monticello), Under None LLC, The Crummy Boys Shop Inc., and the help of volunteer leaders of the event planning committee.
Cub Scout Pack 272 hopes to host this exciting local event annually and looks forward to presenting the area food shelf with the non-perishable food items generously donated by attendees.
